Marianne (Soprano)
Marianne was active in her NUS Raffles
Hall cultural scene and was awarded “Culture Person of the Year 1998” for her
participation in the hall dance (young choreographer project), productions
(Cast, Choral Director), choir (Choir Director) and band (lead vocalist).
She has since continued to study music privately and trains as a soprano under
Korean Soprano Jeong Ae Ree. She has been a part of the NUS Varsity Choir, SRT
Young Co., Singapore Lyric Opera and has been a featured soloist with Vocal
Associates and the Caravan Jazz Band.
Productions she has been in include: To Freedom With Love (2000, Directed by
Nicholas Lee) as cast and choral trainer, Re: MiX (2001 SRT, a Musical by Dick
Lee) as singer and dancer, Neil Gaiman’s The White Road (2001 SRT) as Main Cast,
a Tribute to Sondheim (2003), as a Grisette in Lehár’s The Merry Widow (2004 SLO)
and most recently as a chorister in Madama Butterfly (2005 SLO).
Marianne has trained formally in ballet, piano, martial arts and singing. She
currently holds a DipABRSM (singing) and sang in Nov 2004 at the Trinity College
of Music High Scorer’s Concert following her ATCL success.
On Sundays, she directs the Bethany Trinity Presbyterian Church Singing Group
which consists of over 15 very dedicated members.
