Pauline (Alto)
A pianist by training, Pauline's musical involvement includes singing in choirs
and a cappella groups, playing in the orchestra, playing piano accompaniment and
solo piano performance.
She has sung with various choirs including the St Margaret’s Primary School
Choir, River Valley High School Choir, Hwa Chong Junior College Choir, NUS Kent
Ridge Hall Choir and the Singapore Symphony Chorus (SSC). With them, she has
performed in festivals, workshops and competitions in Singapore and the USA.
With the SSC, she performed for the grand opening night of the Opening Festival
of the Esplanade. She has also sung with a cappella ensemble, Laolangs, which
won the first Budak Pantai Sound alike competition in 2004 and performed for A
Cappella Fest ‘04.
As a flautist, she has played in the Singapore Youth Orchestra (SYO) and
participated twice in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) Music Marathon. As
a pianist and accompanist, she has played the piano for most of the choirs she
has sung in and has been chosen to play for various SYO recitals and functions,
as well as for Dengjin (Principal Flautist) for the Asian Youth Orchestra
auditions. She was also the concert pianist for the NUS Exxon Mobil Campus
Concert “Hello Young Lovers” and the library performance of “A Tribute to Julie
Andrews” at the Orchard Library. Other accompaniment experience includes playing
for the ABRSM High Scorers Concert both in 2003 and 2005, and participating in a
masterclass by Dr Hong Pei-Chi from Taiwan.
Pauline has obtained a distinction for her ABRSM Grade 8 Pianoforte examination.
She is presently a freelance assistant choral instructor of 3 local school
choirs, a private piano tutor and an active accompanist. She was also on the
committee of the River Valley High School Alumni Choir from 2002 – 2004 and is
now dedicating her life to music making and learning.
